ANNUAL REPORT 2012-2013

Hari Om!!!

                As per PoojyaGurudev’s vision, all the stakeholders of this Vidyalaya have been trying to fulfil our obligatory duties as best as we can, in a spirit of detachment, joy and dedication for the last 30 years. The grace of Gurudev is our source of determination to excel.

With along glittering past behind, and a charming future ahead, let me take you through the activities of the present year.

            “Well begun is half done”. Our academic session for class X and Class XII began on 5th may. The rest of the classes commenced from 4th June.

All activities in our school are based on Chinmaya vision of education. Our tiny tots are trained under Child centered, activity oriented, Adaptive curriculum which make an easy transit to continuous and comprehensive evaluation followed in Primary and Secondary classes. They were regularly taken to nature walk to various places of interest, where they interact with nature and people. As they have stepped on the ladder of learning they are motivated to the maximum to participate in various activities like Colour day, Flag day, Coconut day, Rainbow day, Vegetable day, fruit day, etc. KG day was also celebrated at the end of the academic session. We have been following CBSE syllabus for classes I to XII. As you are aware, there has been far reaching changes in the field of education in CBSE system.

Model classes were arranged under the guidance of AAC and PIO. The teachers of all Schools under the trust also meet once in a month to discuss and share best teaching–learning practices. Remedial coaching classes were arranged at the Vidyalaya level for students who needed additional help. Interaction with parents and teachers are held during regular class wise parents meeting. A special meeting with the parents of junior and senior KG students was convened in the presence of AAC and PIO in the month of June. Constant monitoring of Academic and administrative aspects by the management & Central Chinmaya Mission trust facilitate rich learning environment to bring out the best in our children. Smt. Sasikala Ramaratnam from CCMT education cell visited our Vidyalaya on inspection.

The spacious school library caters the reading interest of the children opening the new vistas of the world of letters.To promote newspaper reading ”Vayanakalari” was initiated by Sri Sivankutty M.L.A on 10thJuly.

Teacher professional development agenda was worked out by relieving our teachers for various training programmes.

                  With a view of improving the writing talent of our children, they were made to attend a creative writing class at CV Kattakada. We are very happy to announce that out of  all chinmaya vidyalayas, we bagged the first, second and third prizes for cover page designing for ChinmayaVidyaBharathi. Naveen got first prize and he will receive Rs 1000 from Chinmaya Trust, GopikaNandu got second and Abhijith got third prize. There was a tremendous out-pouring of creativity and talent during Youth festival conducted in the school in the month of July. Students actively participated in the Art and Science exhibition conducted in our vidyalaya. We were the first runner up for Chin IT 2012 organized by Chinmaya Vidyalaya ,Kattakada

Auspicious occasions and unique days of importance of our Mission are given due importance and are observed with fervour. Seva day was observed by offering humble seva of cleaning the school premises. Students visited Sreedurga sevakendram Karumum and sponsored lunch to the inmates there. Guruji’s birth day was a day of celebration for us. Importance of Guru and Guruparambara were told to children during Guru poornima. Ramayana month was celebrated with recitation of sundarakandam, Ramayana quiz and Ramayana Essay writing competition. Chapter 12 of Bhagavat Geetha is chanted everyday by all students before prayer. Children participated in the Geetha chanting competition held by Chinmaya Mission. This year staff also got an opportunity to realize the flavours and beauty of Hindu philosophy through the Geetha chanting competition. As a part of Gurudev’s Centenary celebration, our teachers participated in mass Geetha chanting at SreePadmanabha Swami temple. As part of 150th birthday celebration of Swami Vivekananda our school celebrated the day with video presentation highlighting the life of Swami Vivekananda by the 10th & 11th Std students

Chinmaya vision programmes give much importance to physical development of child. Health club was inaugurated by Dr.Lekshmi. Club members are active in promoting  good health habits exercises and vegetarianism.  Need of dental hygiene was highlighted in the talk given by Dr.Lekshmi. Health card is being maintained for our primary classes.The food festival organised this year was a very special one. First aid class was given to our students by Smt. Sreelekha,the guide captain of CV Vazhuthacaud and Scout Master Sri Harikumar.

              Scout and guide unit function actively in our Vidyalaya. Cub & Bulbul unit too create a stamp of their presence through their participation and performance. During this academic year 5 students passed Rajyapuraskar award, two students passed the pre-test for Rastrapathy award and seven students passed dwitiasopan test. Our athletes put up fine performance in sport events right from school level to CBSE sports meet. Our annual sports meet was conducted at Central Stadium.Karate class and Yoga class conducted after school hours entered its second year and is beneficial to children. The third edition of Chin 11’s cup foot ball tournament was organised at University stadium.  Chin 11’s cup was lifted by the team from Loyola School. In connection with London Olympics we conducted a spectacular opening ceremony

                      To impart patriotism all days of National importance were celebrated. Independence day, Gandhi Jayanthi, Children’s day were all celebratedin a befitting manner. Speeches, presentations & patriotic songs marked the days. National literacy week also found a place in our calendar of activities with quiz competitions and book exhibitions.

                     Indian culture is one of the richest and the oldest culture in the world. Chinmaya vision programme also aim to expose the children to our cultural heritage, customs and tradition. Onam was celebrated in a very grand way. Attapukkalam competition was also held. Janmashtami was a very colourful occasion celebrated in its true spirit with “uriyadi”dances and songs. It was really a treat to our eyes and ears when Sri RamachandraPulavar and his troop presented shadow puppetry organised by “SPIC MACAY” lettering the story of the epic Ramayana. Sublime emotions were passed between Mother and Children on the occasion of Matrupooja guided by Smt. Jyothi Mohan on Vijayadesami day.Heritage club was started this year with the sole intention of embedding the importance of rich tradition.Grandparents had a rare experience and recognition of their roles during grand parents day celebration.

        We take every opportunity to make the children appreciate sensitise and be committed to universal issues. We observed world environment day. Tree saplings were distributed and a photo exhibition was conducted by Travancore natural society. A power point presentation was conducted by Dr.Kalesh. We also observed world population day and In connection with that 38 pairs of twins from our school were  honoured. Ozone daywas observed on September 16. A talk was given by Prof.C.P. Aravindakshan to the students. Anti-tobacco day was observed on May 31st .A class was given to students signifying the importance of Ayurveda treatment for all types of fever. Our plus two students produced a documentary film on waste disposal and is approved by “Mathrubhoomi” seed project. Pleasure trips were organized for Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary level to Happy Land, Wonder-la, Mysore and Bangalore.

            School Level inauguration of Transforming Indians to Transform India – a unique National Level Quiz programme organized by Chinmaya Yuva Kendra is worth mentioning.

            Our Alumni ‘Chinmaya Mithra’ met on 26th December in our vidyalaya.

Thanks to the management for introducing GPS based vehicle tracking system, that improved the bus safety and accountability. A much awaited biogas plant was installed this year to improve hygiene and sanitation.

            This year teaching staff Smt. Jayasree Devi P, Smt. Sudha Devi P, Smt. Kala G N and non teaching staff Smt Usha P are retiring from their service.We are indeed grateful to them for their devoted and sincere renderings to the institution

            It is with heavy heart, I convey that our school deeply mourns the sudden demise of Akhil P of class 7B.

Let us invoke the blessings of the almighty and our Pujya Gurudev to accomplish all our dreams.
